With a rich tapestry of cultures, languages and experiences, Scalabrini was struggling to meet operational targets. Staff turnover and preventable errors were high, resident satisfaction was low, and families were concerned about the level of care provided.
Sage Advice founder and business consultant, Raffy Sgroi, conducted a full strategic review and identified key areas for improvement stemming from linguistic barriers, cultural norms, communications breakdowns, and insufficient training and support for staff.
Scalabrini embraced and actioned a range of recommendations including cultural competence training, introduction of written manuals and standardised procedures, team building and handover overlap between shifts, as well as daily checks ins for feedback from team members.
Within 12 months Scalabrini was celebrating increased operational efficiency including cost savings, improved quality of care and resident satisfaction, improvements to team morale and staff retention, and a significant reduction in complaints from families.
